AMA worked
with Wham Architecture, the Church of Scotland Climate Change Officer,
and various Church of Scotland congregations in the Cowal Peninsula in a
project aimed at reducing the carbon footprint of rural church
properties. Air to Air Heat pumps were installed in 6 churches over a 2
year period from 2016 to 2018.Most of these churches were Listed Buildings and the work
required the Architect to consult extensively with Historic Environment
Scotland and the local Planning Authorities. Work was also completed in
2 manses including installation of solar thermal hot water systems and
an air to water heat pump. These attractive rural parishes provide the
perfect opportunity for other congregations to visit the churches
involved to gain a fuller understanding of the characteristics and
potential of these heating systems. The project was awarded 2nd prize in the Roman Juriga Awardat the 12th Assembly of the ECEN ( European Christian
Environmental Network) in Katowice Poland inOctober 2018.Details
